What a great bridge! For me, it added the final element I was looking to dial into on my banjo, "presence". Thanks again Bart! This bridge with my setup produces amazing tones, still "old time" plunk but with incredible, full rich clarity over the entire fretboard. It was clear the bridge had been given special attention by the maker.Second, the design was excellent. I entered nylon strings on the form, and he followed up about which strings to get the exact gauge. I bought one of Danny's Beech bridges on Ebay. I wanted more power and always felt the Stealth had more in there just itching to come out. Our collection of songs on Youtube steadily grew. the banjo came equipped with a Grover compensated that sounded just okay. I asked that the bridge be left unslotted, so that I could 'tweak' the height by sanding the top a little and then file my own slots. After some other tweaks, I actually decided that I liked the first one better, and Bart was extremely patient and flexible through the entire process. I am pretty sure that part of his success in this design is that he creates a very slight radius on the feet to match the sag of the banjo head. I was lucky enough to win the 2014 Camo Frog bridge from Generous Virgil Lawson from Tazewell, Tn. The next day, BAM! Beautiful sound, great price, and good people. I notice much better note separation, much better volume and a tone that was a very nice surprise-crisp maybe is a word I would use for it. The tone was well-balanced and the banjo was slightly louder with very good note separation. But his latest & greatest is a combination of young & old folks called Foxes and Fossils. It is slightly less weight then virgin maple, and I think this improves the resonance of the bridge. Finally, the treble is very sweet. I am still stunned that a little hunk of wood, can change the sound of a banjo that much..all on the positive side. The bridges sound rather average and unappealing when first installed - it takes a little while being installed and picked to really shine. If you are looking for an archtop bridge, consider the Veerman "Archie". Well made. I ordered the spice bridge with the purple heart pegged top- medium weight as he suggested. I immediately ordered a second bridge with the same specs as a back-up. I could feel the sound resonating thru the neck - also something new. Highly recommend Bart's bridges. I guess its hard to have it all. My then current bridge was to thick. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Jim and Tim's music for hours of restorative listening so sorely needed in this time of fear and bleakness and loss. Just by looking at this bridge, I thought it would add a more dull woody sound, but not so. It's a 9/16 organ wood standard spacing for my '63 RB-100and is just what the doctor ordered. This bridge improved the tone of this RB-250 by increasing its warmth and response by a lot. Workmanship is flawless, but I went back to Snuffy Smith. Tim's bridges are very high on my list. I tried all three out on my two banjos (RK35 Madison and Deering Goodtime Special). There is another slight difference in tone that I have no idea how to describe, but I like it. Remember that with any bridge, set-up factors in, and the head tension may need to be raised or in this case slightly lowered for optimum performance--don't judge a bridge by the sound, try different set-ups! The Babadook threatens to make Amelia kill her son and dog. I have a Deering Deluxe and, as with almost all banjos I have played, it needs a compensated bridge to be accurate over the whole fretboard. That sounded great to me. I may lost a SMALL amount of volume, and I mean small amount, but much clearer, cleaner tone, not harsh at all, more balanced and no harsh overtones. Banjo sounds great! This thing Rocks!!! Much to Sammies embarrassment (after all, I am her dad) I decided to approach Maggie and ask her if shed like to form a band with us. A very balanced and "open" sounding bridge. Sound is less plunky. After sending Tim and inquiry about his brides, I immediately received a questionnaire that gave him the specifics I was looking for(height/string spacing/wood).My bridge arrived a few days later with the weight in grams listed on the underside of one of the feet along with height and string spacing.Very impressive.
